Freak Show Friday: Lady Gaga

All photos via Google Image Search

Where DO I start with Lady Gaga? Well, I should probably start out by reluctantly admitting that I do (err...), I mean DID, have a small sort of fascination with the Lady. Just a tad "gaga" over the lady, if you will. But I think that I'm OVER it, now. Then again, maybe NOT, if I'm doing this post...

I know that she isn't a "freak" compared to the likes of Michael Jackson, however she IS one on a whole other level. One would almost have to agree that she's a bit of a fashion-freak, at the very least! Anyway, for the TWO of you who aren't familiar, continue below for a little background.

"Umm, Gaga? When we said
you could bring your beau,
this wasn't what we meant..."

(Lady evidently improvised when she ran out
of normal hair bows.)

"I'm out-of-this-world!"

(Guest appearing on 'Ellen', sharing what
looks like an interactive science project...)

Born Stefani Joanne Germanotta to an Italian New York family, she assumed the stage name Lady Gaga, at the age of 19, as an homage to Queen's song 'Radio Gaga'. She first broke onto the Lower East Side club scene with the dance-pop song 'Beautiful Dirty Rich' while also gaining attention for her very theatrical "shock art" performances. Dressed in her own hand-made costumes, she would strip down to just hot pants and a bikini top, light cans of hairspray on fire and strike a pose as a disco ball lowered from the ceiling to the orchestral sounds of 'A Clockwork Orange'. Wish I could've seen THAT!

She went on to become signed with Streamline/Interscope Records by her 20th birthday and wrote songs for other artists, such as the Pussycat Dolls, before her debut album 'The Fame' was even released. Gaga, now 23, describes her sound on 'The Fame' as being "two parts dance-pop, one part electro-pop, and one part rock with a splash of disco and burlesque generously poured in."

Watch the music video for her latest single, 'Love Game', below...

"Tiny bubbles... tiny bubbles,
make me feel fine... make me feel fine"

(Lady must've stepped out of the bath just in
time for this performance!)

"Bitch, where you at? You were
supposed to meet me here at
the mall, right by Orange Julius!"

(Lady, out shopping for a new D&G jet-pack
to match her dress.)

"I'm a little teapot,
short and stout..."

(On stage, performing with the Pet Shop Boys.)

"What? This wasn't supposed to be
a MASQUERADE pool party?!"

(Lately, she's dripping with success.)

Now, do you see what I was talking about when I called her a "fashion-freak"?! She's ALL over the place! And a bit skanky, too! There are even MORE skanky fashion oddities where these came from, so maybe I will share those with you at another time...

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  1. Hahahahahahahaha! I love your captions! The photos are funny enough, but your little comments are just priceless! I love the "I'm a Little Teapot"!

  2. Thanks, Tikimama! I DO have a lot of fun with the captions!

Am I correct in assuming that you'd never even heard of Lady Gaga? I figured you were one of the ONLY two...

  3. I love this! I love the "Bitch where you at/Orange Julius" caption, and of course the teapot one. Did you know before your "research" for this post that she'd performed with the Petshop Boys? Why does she have to be such a stocky little troll?

  4. UM, PIC #1?!??!?! very reminiscent of DEE SNYDER, and that is not a good thing!!!!!!!

  5. "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick" - yeah, it's catchy little lines like that that make it difficult for me to watch videos of dance music around the wee ones.

I'd only heard of Lady Gaga by some reference you made to her on Facebook! Thanks for the education today. She's....very limber.

  6. No, Tommy, I did NOT know of Lady's Pet Shop Boys collaboration! I'm hoping to find a video of that performance. I don't even know WHAT song she did with them! Like, was it one of HER songs that the Boys joined in on, or the other way around?

Why is she such a stocky troll, you ask? Well, I could tell you, but then I'd have to KILL you.

  7. Drollgirl, I think it's the weird fur-type thing wrapped around her that's evoking a Dee Snider flashback. It looks exactly like his old 'Twisted Sister' hair!

Tikimama, does this mean I'm going to have to start putting a WARNING on anything that's not 'Veggie Tales' or 'The Backyardigans'?! If I have to, drollgirl has to do it, also... Somehow, I don't think that'll be happening!

I guess that YOU will just have to assert your Parental Control, huh?

  8. (((LOL))) Hmmm... reading this post doesn't fit in with watching Keith Olbermann.:)

She is definitely different, but I'm all for people expressing themselves. I do think some of the performances and outfits are for the benefit of shocking us, the audience.

I am not familiar with her music. I know the name but haven't listened to her music, until seeing this video. Can't say I'll be buying any of of Cd's, or buying a ticket to see her in concert.

Your captions are hilarious! I'm loving that bubble outfit. Wonder where I can find one?

Have a wonderful weekend, sweet guy!

P.S. I see I missed one of your post??? How did this happen. I'll be back later on to read it, and comment. xo

  9. Thanks, Six! I don't get the Keith Olbermann reference, though...?

Yeah, the Lady isn't for everyone, for sure! And even MY interest is fading fast. Although, it IS kinda fun seeing what she'll wear next! Still, I don't imagine that she will have much longevity.

I hope that your niece is hanging on. What an awful thing for you and your family to have to deal with...

  11. Thank you, Lenore! I feel honored that you've taken the time to drop by even though you are busy in Japan, right now.

I love YOUR sense of humor, too, you know! That's what makes your blog one of my favorites!

  12. I saw that Ellen appearance. It looked like someone had broken a slinky over her head...

  13. Hey, Life With Dogs, thanks for stopping by!

I wish that I'D seen that Ellen episode... Do they even call them "episodes" when it's a talk show like that? Hmmm.

Anyway, you're right, it TOTALLY looks like a strange, broken Slinky on her head. Kinda makes sense in a weird way, you know?

    Let's break it down...

    Lady Gaga is certainly slutty.
    Lady Gaga is probably kinky.

    So...

    Slutty + kinky = Slinky

    Thanks for playing!

  14. Followed you over from our pals at Life with Dogs. I have kind of been avoiding Lady Gaga, but looking at this collection of photos, I can't help but see the circus. But does she have any talent besides playing dress up? That's the difference between true art/performance/le cirque and crap.

  15. Hi, Sophie!
Nice of you to "pop" in!

I think that your initial instinct to avoid Miss Gaga was probably a wise one. While she has been somewhat entertaining to watch, none of it is really all that original. And her singing voice is quite obviously computer enhanced. So, I'd say that your talent assessment is spot on!

    Lady Gaga IS "crap".

  16. Can't believe I haven't commented on this one yet!
She seemed to appear from nowhere and is 'the latest thing'. I want to like her but I find her music to be quite crap actually.

    ReplyDelete
  17. i think Lady Gaga is doing a very cool thing with her style/looks, and she's being an entertainer in every sense.
the top picture in your post is Lady at her ugliest...before the wigs and shades to cover her up!!
    xox

  18. Mademoiselle, I know it must come across like I totally HATE Lady Gaga... but actually, I don't!

Just between you and me, I still turn up the radio whenever she comes on (Eww, that sounds gross!). I even SING ALONG! And I'm fairly sure that I'd watch her videos any time they came on T.V., too!

As tacky as she may be, she IS unique and seems to have that "it" factor.

Thanks for checking out my blog and commenting! I enjoy reading all kinds of opinions, even the contradictory ones. :)

  20. Thanks for visiting my circus, Anonymous!

It's starting to look like the Lady might be sticking around for a while. I kind of expected her to only be a "flash in the pan", at best. Did you hear that she's recording a song with Michael Bolton?! That should be interesting...

  21. is that first picture really lady gaga before she had plastic surgery!!?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey, purple!
You know, I'm really not sure if that pic is pre-op, or not. Kinda looks like it, though...

    Thanks for visiting!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well, anyways, she's Hermaphrodite...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Really.
And you know this how, Anonymous? Are you actually Jamie Lee Curtis, or something?!

For all we know, Lady Gaga could be a HIMaphrodite... ;)

  25. YOU PULL AND I'LL PUSH BABY!!

    THE MACHINE!

    (PS- OPPOSITES ATTRACT)!

  26. She's so ugly it's unreal.

Biggest freak of nature on the entire world.
